The Human Friendly Community is a diverse hub for anyone who wishes to engage in thoughtful discussions and collaborations around AI. It's a space where technologists, artists, educators, remote workers, business leaders, students, parents, and others come together to navigate and shape our shared future in the age of AI.

As AI becomes more mainstream, the implications and conversations around it should not be confined to the tech elite. We believe everyone should partake in this dialogue, from parents worried about their child's AI-influenced future to workers and educators pondering AI's impact on their roles. This community exists to facilitate conversations and connections in order to collectively shape how AI integrates into our lives and communities.

Our founders have been building distributed communities around emerging technology for years. In 2016, we built a distributed learning community that reached 100,000+ aspiring technologists in Africa. In 2018 we launched a creative co-op where people come to connect, share their projects, and make progress on their dreams.And through the pandemic we began hosted play-based online gatherings where we used purposeful games to help people connect with diverse minds.

Now we believe it's time for us to infuse the AI age we're now in with this community magic.

We get it. Many of our members, including our founding members, are far from blindly optimistic about AI. From clear instances of harm, like amplifying bias and inequality, to more intangible concerns, like diluting human connection and creativity, we see many reasons to be concerned about where all this is headed.

We want your voice in the mix. One early member told us that they grew up in an impoverished black city in a developing country, and their people are usually left out of innovations like these. That makes a lot of sense, and is all the more reason why we want a mix of people across the spectrum of enthusiastic to skeptical about these AI tools and the future of humanity.
